An Irresistible Combination – Italian Flair and a Quintessential English Country Hall

Sometimes the best way to appreciate a classic motorcycle is to place it somewhere unexpected.

Earlier this summer, we took a range of classic motorcycles, including two exceptional Italian marques – a 1957 Moto Parilla Lusso Veloce and a 2002 Ducati MH900e Evoluzione – to Gawsworth Hall in Cheshire.

Gawsworth Hall deep in the Cheshire countryside is a unique place of Tudor beams, manicured lawns and centuries of history.

The combination was striking: Italian speed and flair in the grounds of one of England’s finest country halls.

Behind the Scenes

With drones circling, tracking shots filmed from a video car and a vast amount of static filming around the gardens, the day turned into something special.

Experiencing the Parilla and Ducati sweep past the hedges and hearing the echo of an engine note bounce back from the old stone walls, made the contrast even sharper.

A house built centuries ago and classic machines from two very different eras of Italian design, all sharing the same stage. It was an epic contrast and one you can watch here: https://youtube.com/shorts/jV41xJ97NDk?feature=share

Moto Parilla at Gawsworth Hall

The Moto Parilla felt perfectly at home in front of Gawsworth’s timbered façade. Light on its feet, delicate in its lines, it matched the hall’s quiet charm.

Its striking colours and classic Italian design really popped against the black-and-white Tudor walls, creating a contrast that is impossible to ignore.

Watching it tick over in the courtyard, you could almost imagine it had always belonged there – the kind of classic motorcycle that slips into the background until it moves and then suddenly you notice how alive it feels.

For a 175cc machine, it carries itself with surprising presence, much like the hall itself: modest at first glance but deeply characterful once you look closer.

Ducati at Gawsworth Hall

Nothing about the Ducati MH900e was quiet.

Against the backdrop of carved oak and climbing ivy, the Ducati looked like a piece of modern sculpture dropped into the 16th century.

The lines are bold, the stance unapologetic and when the throttle opened across the drive, its sound carried proudly across the grounds.

But somehow it didn’t feel out of place.

Gawsworth Hall has always had a stage-like quality – the Ducati simply brought its own performance to the setting.

Closing Thoughts

Bringing classic Italian motorcycles to Gawsworth Hall worked beautifully.

The Parilla, the Ducati and the hall each carry their own kind of drama – subtle or bold, quiet or loud but always full of character.

That’s what we love at Solo Classics: finding settings and machines that make you stop, look twice and smile.
