MV Agusta Magni

MV Agusta Magni

This extraordinary motorcycle represents a piece of motorcycling royalty, crafted by the legendary Arturo Magni and his sons, Carlo and Giovanni.

For those familiar with the storied history of Count Domenico Agusta – renowned for his aircraft, helicopters and, most importantly, motorcycles – the name Arturo Magni carries an iconic status.

By 1952, Arturo Magni had become Direttore Sportivo (Director of the Racing Department) at MV Agusta, working under Count Domenico’s watchful eye.

Magni held this position until MV Agusta withdrew from competition in 1976, during which time he led the brand to unparalleled success. Employing some of the greatest motorcycle racers in history – names like Provini, Ubbiali, Sandford, Read, Surtees, Hailwood and the incomparable Giacomo Agostini (‘Ago’ to his friends) – Magni guided MV Agusta to an astonishing 75 World Championships, 37 Manufacturers’ titles, 38 Rider titles and 270 Grand Prix victories.

This motorcycle is the culmination of Magni’s unparalleled expertise and passion – a true testament to his genius.

Starting with a stock 750S, Magni and his team completely stripped and rebuilt the machine. The 4-cylinder engine was upgraded with high-compression pistons, increasing its capacity from 750cc to 861cc.

New camshafts and specially tuned Dell’Orto carburettors were installed, alongside a chain drive conversion for improved performance. The suspension received extensive modifications, elevating it well above the stock 750.

This particular example has further enhancements, including upgraded AP Racing discs and calipers, as well as state-of-the-art Maxton front and rear suspension. It has been meticulously maintained by its previous owner, with the help of Meccanica Verghera Ltd., a company founded by David Kay and now run by his son Mark and grandson Mitch.

Their exceptional craftsmanship and dedication have preserved the MV Agusta legacy during the challenging decades of the 1980s and 1990s.

This bike comes with all original parts, extensive build history, a wealth of invoices, and the original handbooks. Its early ownership adds to its intrigue, with its first owner being the drummer of the greatest progressive rock band in history.

Later, it was owned by Klaas Zwart, the founder of Circuito Ascari and one of Europe’s most passionate petrolheads.

Owning this MV Agusta Magni is far more than acquiring a motorcycle – it is an entry into a world shaped by Count Domenico Agusta, Arturo Magni and legends like Hailwood and Agostini.

Whoever becomes the next custodian of this masterpiece will be part of something truly special.

And, should you ever meet Giacomo Agostini, you’ll have earned the privilege to call him ‘Ago.’
