1931 L32-5 BLUE STAR.
In the 1930's the 'L' designated the 350cc range from BSA. This 1932 model year bike benefitted from many upgrades that had been sold as optional extras on earlier models. Notably a high compression piston, hotter camshaft, stronger valve springs and a full lighting kit, strange to imagine that you could buy a brand new bike without lights. Other options, not extras were foot or hand gear change, BSA reckoned 40% of all bikes were ordered with foot gear change.
The Blue Star that we have here on offer has had a full restoration at some stage in it's latter years and has mellowed well. The previous owner had owned this machine for nearly 25 years before it came into our possession. The twin port 350cc engine with it's upswept pipes runs superbly and surprisingly without any oil leaks.
A great looking and running example of what is considered to be the best of the 'L' at the time, rather sought after and hard to find.During the 1930's BSA used the advertising strap line,'One in Four is a B.S.A.' This reflected the Birmingham based company's status as the worlds largest manufacturer of motorcycles.
We are always keen to hear from anyone who knows anything or has had any history about this or any bike we have for sale. Please do not hesitate to get in touch, it would be really great to hear from you.
